Thanks for visiting Kakazai.com.
My Kakazai (a.k.a. Loye Mamund) Pashtun background has always been a mystery, a matter of curiosity to me.
Since my childhood, my elders told me that we are Kakazai Pashtun.
To me, It was kind of weird because
- We don’t speak any Pashto but Punjabi
- Some of us call ourselves “Malik” in Punjab
- Most of us don’t take Naswar either
and
In other words, I had almost none of those ‘traits’, which supposed to be associated with ‘conventional’ Pathans in Pakistan in general and subcontinent on the whole. To add to this irony, the street full of my relatives, which I grew up in, used to be called ‘Kucha-e Afghanan’ (Afghans’ place).
Nevertheless, my elders insisted that we are Kakazai AND Pashtuns.
I am sure there are plenty of Kakazai Pashtuns out there who are in my shoes.
So, Please make yourself home as here is a place for you to not only solve this mystery of our background and let the cat out of the sack of curiosity but also to interact with each other.
I seriously and sincerely hope that we will be able to learn from each other.
With your kind feedback and precious help, I intend to add more features to this web-site in coming days.
Looking forward to hearing from you…
I remain,
Yours sincerely,
Ali Khan
